The Alabama born, Arizona bred blues and soul musician, MACHO B (spelled all caps) recently emerged on the Tucson music scene after a near-decade departure from playing live shows due to trying to find the American Dream. Blues, Soul and Gospel have always been apart of MACHO B's blood...and it comes out in his voice and playing. His grandfather was the original piano player for late 50s-early 60s Southern Gospel Quartet, The Rhythm Masters. He received his first blues lesson from Chicago blues legend, the late-great Magic Slim back in 2006 after a show at Nimbus Brewing. Slim gave MACHO B some invaluable advice: "Boy, always play with your fingers. If you're not playing with your fingers...you're not playing the blues." He may not be a flashy blues guitar player but make no mistake, MACHO B can rock a house party till your hair turns grey. You can catch him in the clubs around town playing solo or playing with Tucson blues legend, Tom Walbank, who regularly sits in to play harmonica. MACHO B takes his name from the last American Jaguar caught and killed by authorities in the Sonoran Desert in 2009.
